There are different routes to membership, as explained in detail in the Constitution and By-laws..

1. The normal route to become a full member of the ECPVS and Diplomate is to participate in a residency programme.  Applicants will have gained their veterinary degree at least 48 months previously from an EAEVE approved veterinary course.- though this may be waived in individual cases..  Full details re Residence may be found from the following link.

2..Candidates who are already internationally recognised in the field of poultry veterinary science may be permitted , at the  discretion of the Credentials Committee and the Executive Committee. to proceed directly to examination, without fulfilling the requirements of a residency programme.

In either of these cases, candidates must also normally fulfill  the following requirements:

A. Are licensed to practise or are eligible to be licensed to practise in a European country. Applicants may be relieved of this requirement in exceptional cases.

B. Have met the minimal publication requirements as defined by the College (at least two peer-reviewed publications in international refereed journals).

3.   Members of Equivalent Colleges: Diplomates of non-EBVS Recognised Colleges may exceptionally be granted ECPVS Diplomate status where such qualification is recognised by the ECPVS Credentials Committee and the Executive Committee, and as defined in Article B.2 of the EBVS Policies and Procedures.

4. Associate Membership: The College may confer Associate member status on scientists who have contributed significantly to research in veterinary medicine. Only scientists of international repute who are active in the poultry veterinary science are admitted as Associate Members.
